Sohn von Bernhard Barnstorff; Studium in Rostock (?, ?), Helmstedt (?, ?), Jena (?, ?), Leipzig (?, ?) und Halle (Saale) (?, ?); Promotion in Halle (Saale) (26 Juni 1696); blieb dort zwei Jahre und hielt Vorlesungen; Arzt in Wismar (1698, 1699); Stadtphysikus in Anklam (1699, ?); ordentl. Professor der Medizin in Greifswald (1704, ?) und Stadtphysikus in Greifswald (1704, ?). Er heiratete am 21.7.1701 Marie Hedwig Otto.
